A superb, complex gemmy and lustrous twinned crystal of calcite sits on a tan limestone matrix. These are some of my favorite calcites. Almosta 360 degree specimen.

A pair of water clear prisms of calcite on matrix. There’s a tiny nick on one of the terminations. This little guy was found during an excavation near the airport in Skardu, and I don’t think there’ll be any more. A find for the serious calcite collector!

From a find in 2021 in Trepca. Pinkish spheres of calcite (originally thought to be rhodochrosite) and discoidal crystals on water lear spindly quartz crystals. Some broken tips on one side of the specimen. Still very pretty.

Clear to white calcite rhombs sprinkled with sparkling, bright green  duftite crystals. Another one of the many associations found at Tsumeb.

Bladed white crystals of calcite and a pair of fluorite cubes sit on a matrix of mica and quartz.

Pastel yellow, highly lustrous rhombohedral crystals of calcite on a mound of deep green mottramite. It almost makes you want to display the underside.

Sharp and gemmy lustrous prisms of pastel yellow calcite on a matrix of light dolomite rhombs that are sprinkled with dark green olivenite spheres. Unusual habit for olivenite.

A crown of translucent, brownish black lustrous crystals of cassiterite sit on the tip of a silvery, brilliant group of arsenopyrites with minor muscovite. Another cassiterite group and some siderites sit at the rear of the piece. Super display piece from this classic locale!

From a  fairly recent find last year in Afghanistan. Blocky celestine prisms on a matrix of straw colored calcite scalenohedrons. The intense sea blue color comes from cobalt. These were first identified as herderites, but testing proved them to be celstines.
