A new find just before the Tucson Show at a mine that had never really been worked for specimens. These new barites have the most incredible luster and tremendously sharp chiseled crystals to 2.4 cm (rare in Mexico where the habit tends to be tabular). They are completely transparent and run from a blue grey to yellow grey pastel colors. This one is bluish grey. They make wonderful display specimens and were written up briefly in the newest Min. Rec. issue. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get the color accurately in the photo. To my knowledge, no more have been found.

ID: 5096

A stunning and unusual fluorite consisting of an elongated (etched?) crystal that ends in a cube termination and is associated with cubed faces along the side of the crystal and sits on sphalerite crystals with micro quartz and galena crystals. One of the neatest pieces I’ve seen out of this locale!. Originally in the collection of Leonard Himes who purchased it from Ocus Stanley in the early 70’s and sold it to D. Nelson in 2002.

Fluorite with Muscovite, Bertrandite (ex Nelson Coll.)

ID: 3645

A beautiful specimen consisting of very gemmy (the matrix can be seen under the crystals) and lustrous blue cubes of fluorite with a deep purple color zone on the edges. These sit on a matrix of muscovite and tiny clear crystals of bertrandite. There is contact on the rear of both larger groups of fluorites, but it is on the rear of the crystals and it does not affect display. A stunning piece!
